This source provides information on all of Jane Austen’s novels, which can be helpful to understanding Pride and Prejudice and the time, when Jane Austen wrote her novels.

This book starts by explaining Jane Austen’s biographical information specifically explaining the society when Austen was writing her books. It expands on a major theme of social life and status in that time and links it to Austen’s life. This book also touches on Jane Austen’s writing style and how her style exhibits elements of irony and satire. Lastly this book links all of that information to Pride and Prejudice specifically.

It also has a long section on its critical views, which can provide information for a literary criticism essay.

This book focuses on Jane Austen’s background offering historical context to the book Pride and Prejudice. It goes into detail about many themes evident in the book. Also it explains the symbolism that is present in Pride and Prejudice. Overall this book is useful to understand the novel Pride and Prejudice not necessarily for writing a literary criticism.

Each of the essays touch on a specific elements of her writing which could be helpful for writing a separate literary criticism. Since this book is full of critical essays it shows examples of how to write literary criticism essays.
